Cody, WY (RODEO!!!!)

We're in Cody for 5 nights. This was a recent add when we saw that they have rodeos every night during the summer. Another nice town. Today it is in the 60's with essentially no humidity and 50's at night. Hickory is in the 90's with sopping humidity!

Friday was our first sightseeing day. Whenever we can, we start with a trolley tour to get oriented and figure out what we want to go see in detail. There is a small trolley tour operation here, 1 bus. Ray sold us the tickets and was a font of knowledge about Cody and Yellowstone. Great guy. Knows his stuff and is great at his job.

We ran into Buffalo Bill while waiting.

The trolley leaves from the Irma Hotel which Cody built.

Cody was the person responsible for the building of Cody. He designed it so that all streets were huge, even in residential areas, because he hated not being able to turn his wild west show caravan around in narrow streets.

We had a great BBQ sandwich at a food truck.

Saturday we are doing the Buffalo Bill Center of the West museum LINK

Fantastic displays. The Natural History, Indian, and gun wings were especially well done.

West of town on the road to Yellowstone is the lake and Buffalo Bill Dam. Beautiful ride there.

We got tired after doing 2 of the 4 wings and took a lunch break. We then decided that we out to rest up for the Rodeo.

RODEO

During the summer they hold a rodeo every night! LINK . This is why we diverted to Cody and we're glad we did. Cody is fantastic and we loved the rodeo. A great 2 hour event and they are not actors! These folks take a beating.

The Blue Shirts have the dangerous job of rounding up the horse/bull after the ride and getting them out of the ring. Some are really unhappy and give them a lot of trouble
